Our Instructors
Shihan David Colon
Shihan Colon has over 25 years of Martial Arts experience and currently holds a 9th
Degree Black Belt in Jujutsu and is Dai Shihan under the tutelage of Shinan Hector
Negron, founder of San Yama Bushi Jujutsu.  Shihan Colon’s martial arts studies
have also included Iaido (Japanese Swordsmanship) and Judo.  In his Professional
life Shihan Colon is a Social Worker for the City of New York.  Shihan Colon holds
a BA in Psychology from Fordham University.  He is the head Jujutsu Instructor at
UBA.

Sensei Jose Guerrero
Sensei Guerrero has over 25 years of Martial Arts experience and holds a 3rd
Degree Black Belt in Karate and a 4th Degree Black Belt in Jujutsu. He has trained in
Karate under the late Shihan William Oliver at the original Upper West-Side Seido
Dojo and has also competed as a member of the 1994 World Seido Team. He
continued his studies of martial arts and trained in Jujutsu under Shihan Hector
Negron of the San Yama Bushi Dojo in New Rochelle, NY.  Sensei Guerrero was
also a Martial Arts/Boxing Instructor at New York Sports Club ("NYSC") and the
New York Athletic Club.  He has also worked as a Credit Analyst for Nations Bank.  
Sensei Guerrero attended Albany State University.  He is currently a Sergeant in the
NYPD and head Karate Instructor at UBA.

Sensei Manny Cofresí Jr.
Sensei Cofresí has over 20 years of Martial Arts experience and holds a 5th Degree
Black Belt in Jujutsu under the tutelage of Shinan Hector Negron, founder of San
Yama Bushi Jujutsu.   Sensei Cofresí began his martial arts studies first in the
practice of Shorinji Kempo Karate.  In his professional life he is currently Vice
President, Corporate Development for Automatic Data Processing Inc.  Prior to
ADP Sensei Cofresí was a Vice President at two large Wall Street Investment
Banks:  Merrill Lynch and Citigroup. Sensei Cofresí has also worked at Apple  and
Motorola Inc.  Sensei Cofresí holds an MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of
Business and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering/Device Physics from Cornell
University's College of Engineering.

Shihan Mark Sternefeld
Shihan Mark Sternefeld has over 35 years of Martial Arts experience and holds a
Black Belt in Kenpo Karate and a 8th Degree Black Belt in Jujutsu under the tutelage
of Shinan Hector Negron, founder of San Yama Bushi Jujutsu.  In his professional
life Shihan Sternefeld is a successful entrepreneur involved in various ventures and a
decorated Retired Police Officer in the New York Police Department (“NYPD”).  He
was also a NY/NJ Port Authority Police Officer, a Federal Officer in the US Bureau
of Prisons and a Detective Investigator for the Brooklyn District Attorney.  Shihan
Sternefeld graduated from Manhattan College and attended Graduate School at Long
Island University.
